Allow users to specify information for their contacts
Let us specify what email addresses, social networking sites etc are shown. Could pull the data directly from Gmail's contacts, be saved on a server or locally. Several contacts have multiple email addresses and use one for email and a different one for managing various accounts. This prevents rapportive from being able to find their profiles.
I've identified the personal twitter account of a contact and I want to "assign" it to that contact.
At the moment, it appears a business twitter account is associated with that contact, and I'm not interested in that.
Sometimes Rapportive cannot link the person to a profile. Can the user not just update the contact details to provide a more streamlines use of the service?
It'd be great to be able to edit a contact's links. several people I converse with use different adresses for work-/private-mail or social media profiles so even though we are connected on LinkedIn and Twitter, those links do not appear in rapportive...
I mean the profiles I see in the side bar, not mine
I have friends pointing to wrong twitter accounts and I can't change or edit it
I know that some of my contacts in Gmail have profiles in my social networks, but they might be using different e-mail addresses so Rapportive cannot automatically link them. I'd like the option to manually link a Gmail contact to contacts in my social networks. Thanks!
it's tiring to go into gmail's contacts section for every little edit and your contacts section shows me the most relevant people that i probably need to update - this would be a life and time saver! :-) thanks in advance ;-)
awesome product! keep up the great work.
With gmail, on the side-bar, we should have an option to find the social network that belongs to a person, helping rapportive. Often we know the person has the profile, but rappotive just doesnt find it
Sometimes rapportive can't find information on certain contacts while I know they are contected to me on Linked-In or Facebook. It would be nice if it users could manually link contacts to profiles on Linked-In or Facebook.
I often am writing a friend who I know is on Facebook but Rapportive can't find them because the names are not the same. Is there a way to make this work? I love what you are doing with the rest of Rapportive.
I suggest you allow us to identify an unidentified gmail contact within FB or LinkedIn, and save that choice.
allow me to add a website address for a contact, then use that to search for social profiles
allow me to enter the facebook or twitter address for users that i know have one but are emailing using a different email. that way i can see the SM info there anyway.
I have several contacts who use several different e-mail and other social network accounts... I'd like to be able to draw my own connections so the pulled info is correctly linked
I've got some contacts that have changed their Twitter accounts (such as canceling their existing account and setting up a new one). Would be nice if I could edit it or flag them as "outdated" so Rapportive could crawl them again.
crowdSPRING is on facebook but nothing shows up. Allow the ability to add places where a contact is found.
Sometimes I receive emails from contacts of mine who use an email address which has not been associated to any of his/her profile in social networks (typically work email addresses). It would be helpful to be able to tell Raportive: "hey, although you cannot find anything about this contact (email address) online, I know that he is this guy from my Facebook contact list or any other social network contacts, so that from that moment any time I receive an email from that precise email address Rapportive can provide me with some additional information about the sender of the email.
In some sense, not only the user benefits from it but also Rapportive which can "connect" more email addresses to social network profiles ;-)
When Rapportive says "We couldn't find this person on any social networks." let me specify who the person is on Facebook and others, so Rapportive will know to match correctly in the future even if the email address doesn't match.
It would be nice to be able to edit contact profiles and for example add facebook profile, e-mail, .
When i installed the great rapportive only twitter , facebook and myspace appears on the sidebar for the sender profile , i cant add linkedin to the list of social network , how can i added please?
As long as a profile has not been claimed by a person: Let other users complete these profiles. With this option I would be able to fill all the profile's I often communicate with, but are not rapportive users yet. Other people communicating with this person will get benefit from it. And you could also send an email to this non-rapportive user saying "someone wants you to use rapportive" or something like "someone claimed that .... please have a look at it to verify ..."
Often we know where our contacts come from. I suggest you to add the possibility to manually insert the url of contacts' profile pages. I talk about facebook, myspace, forumfree and all main social networks, but i consider also the main community softwares: phpbb, vbulletin, wordpress, and so on.
Allow me to manually link accounts (twit, flick etc.) to contact profile when the contact in question registers with different services using different emails.
For some email id's where rapportive cannot find their twitter or fb accounts, if I can manually add those, it would help me to see their latest happening when I receive/open their emails.
Allow us to add to other ppls profiles. E.g.- Their twitter acct, etc...
Allow Users to fill in info for Emails of people whome rapportive doesnt recognize.
that way i could add information to a blank contact
I already know the Twitter names etc for alot of people I email. Often Rapportive still can't find them. Why not let me fill in those details somehow - we both win! I get a better profile and populate your database for free!
Allow create information about a contact who is currently do not displaying information.
Suppose Rapportive cannot find a contact on a Social Network, and I have a link to their Facebook/Twitter/Linked-in profile, I should be able to provide the link to Rapportive to display it to me only, and after verification , to everyone else.
I’d like to be able to manually add a Twitter account for people in my inbox
a way how I can point to an existing linkedin profile (even though rapportive does not find it)
I didn't expect perfection, but when contacts I know have facebook, linkedin, and gmail accounts show nothing, I'm less than impressed.
just like I can add my own social network I should be able to Suggest the other persons network if I know It.
maybe it will ask for confirmation from that person, or at least have it for me.
also it should search facebook by email.
If the data that comes up is wrong, I should be able to change it. There are tons of contacts where its pulling up the wrong twitter or facebook account, and I know the correct one. Or I know that their title is wrong.
I want to be able to add contact info, update contact info and not be forced to see it as its aggregated from somewhere else - those systems are almost always wrong anyway.
It would be useful if we could add links to people's Facebook/Twitter etc profiles from inside our own Gmail accounts without the info necessairly going into the wider Rapportive stream. For instance, some people use different email addresses for correspondence and for social networking, so the system might not 'find' their profile, even though I know it's there.
Rapportive's LinkedIn profile blurb for people is always one step behind. It always reports the position before the current one. This should be fixed. I can't even do it manually.
People have multiple emails, and my client shows their name, so I know them. Rapportive should show me potential matches and allow me to choose the correct one.
If Rapportive is not able to find any info of a contact, it should allow the user to add a link. Example, if a user knows a contacts linkedin ID which is different from the email received through the said contact, he should be able to edit and add.
I've tried to find friends, but none have showed up. They do all have Facebook though.
Gmail has awesome stuff but the hover overs and the clicks (assuming ur browser renders them correctly) gets annoying. I would like to see a list of recent conversations & contact info (if their in your contacts) so I don't have to hover and click to find it, It's just there below the social stuff, no loading needed. Also the ability to create and add Rapportive finds to their contact info would be awesome.
Allows users provide info for contacts taht Rapportive doesn't have info
The rapportive sidebar says, "We couldn't find this email on any social networks." But when I search for the same email ID, I find links on facebook and twitter depending on the contact's usage.
I don't know why this happens but at the very least, I should be able to submit links to Rapportive for social networks where the contact's profile resides
Allow me to update address links and data myself. It is disappointing to constantly see "We couldn't find anything...."
In some cases I could actually point the linkage myself and start seeing something instead of this message.
If Rapportive can't find the profile but you know there is one, you should be able to manually override the system and link it whatsoever. Also, when there are more e-mailadresses in the contact list the system should check on ALL addresses belonging to that system.
Hi guys, you miss many people that actually appear in facebook (and being found by other apps)
Some of the addresses in my gmail contact list are not listed on the facebook profiles of my friends. Allow me to manually link them together through Rapportive. This would allow a more complete view of the social network
When email adress of the person cannot be connected to any profile by rapportive, this will make things go faster.
if you don't find any record of an email address, allow me to create my own crm record.
maybe it's like a "contact database" .
you can analysis other activities with this email address
We are definitely going to let you edit your contact records for other people. Right now, we’re working on giving you as much context as we can about your contacts without making you do the work of filling in their details, but we know that’s not enough on its own.
When we enable editing other people’s profiles, the edits will be private to you: in other words, if you edit someone’s profile, we’ll show you the edited version, but other people won’t see your edits. That’s because your contact data belongs to you, and we won’t share it without your consent; it’s also to protect the privacy of people who might not want their social network profiles being revealed in public.
If you have any ideas on how you would like this to work, please do let us know in the comments!
Sam, I understand the privacy implications prevent you from propagating information entered by users to the entire customer base, but how about publicly available information that Rapportive just doesn't have yet?
For example, the email address daniel at deltatangobravo dot com doesn't show an associated Quora Profile, but www.quora.com/Daniel-Burka is easy to find.
In other words, allow crowdsourcing contact data.

Thanks for your reply.
When I submitted that comment, I HAD just added the contact - but unfortunately, after more than a week, it's still not showing (for the contact I did the screenshot for).
The odd thing is, I've added a photo to another contact since then, and it's already showing :S
Also, I think it would be MUCH better if there was the ability to override any photo found on a social network with one we specify in Google Contacts, i.e. avoid this:
I would prefer to show the photo that's on the left of that screenshot (the one I added to Google Contacts), on the right (in the Rapportive sidebar).
Hey Hugh, we do already use your photo in Google Contacts if we can find it (it may take us a day or two to pick it up if you've only just added it). We might not be able to find photos that came from Google+, but if you added it yourself, then it should also appear in Rapportive. Same goes for any social network links you add to your Google Contacts.

This feature would be awesome!
I'm occasionally seeing contacts that Rapportive has found some info for, but not a photo, and (in the sidebar in Gmail) there's a blank space where the photo should be - even though I've added a photo in Google Contacts...
...It would be MUCH more preferable if Rapportive 'defaulted' to the Google Contacts photo if there wasn't one found elsewhere (i.e. on social networks, the company's website, etc).
Here's a screenshot I did to illustrate my point:

I have people who send me emails all the time and their facebook doesn't link up because they are under an alias or something else. Let me manually fix it if I need to.

It would be great if in the Right Sidebar (which is great in Gmail) If I could add the persons details so that I can see their updates right there.

also is there a way to control the information to come from the source i assign , like i want to have the information from linkedin profile is there a way to grab the information only from linkedin?

instead of this laconic message: We couldn't find this person on any social networks let me propose something.

Nikhil: thanks, that's a great idea!

Yeah this is a feature I would definitely like to see. Also, it would be great if the editor can choose to notify the contact of the edit, so they can approve it on their profile to make it a change to their public profile. This way, more people will become aware of the awesome service you guys offer.

Hi ben.I have the same problem. My friends all have Facebook but they say we can't find them on any social networks. I completely agree,3 votes!

I'm sure there are more but for starters:
At the moment Rapportive won't add them because it does not recognise them!

Can I ask a quick question: do you mean change the links for your own email address or for other peoples' email addresses?
